The First Children’s Book National Festival took place from 25th to 28th of May, 1999 under the aegis of the then Mayor of the Sliven Municipality – Mr. Yanko Yankov. The President of the Organizing Committee was Mr. Radostin Koichev – Vice-Mayor of the Sliven Municipality.
The Second Children’s Book National Festival took place from 9th to 11th of May, 2000 under the aegis of the that time Minister of
Culture Mrs. Emma Moskova. The President of the Organizing Committee was Mr
Assen Gagauzov – the then Mayor of the Sliven Municipality. Special guest was
Mr. Kevin Louis – Director of the British Council in Sofia.
The
Third Children’s Book National Festival took place from 9th to 10th of May, 2001 under the aegis of the present Minister of Culture Mr Bozhidar
Abrashev. The President of the Organizing Committee was Mr. Assen Gagauzov – the
then Mayor of Sliven. Special
guest was Miss Ani Beder from Congress Book Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Fourth Children’s Book
National Festival took place from 9th to 10th of May, 2002 under the aegis of the

Every
year the Festival Programme includes the following activities: book bazaars,
presentations of writers and publishing houses, discussions on problems of
creating, distributing and reading books for children, competitions,
exhibitions, performances, concerts, carnival processions etc.
