A NATIONAL “KONSTANTIN KONSTANTINOV” AWARD

            A national “Konstantin Konstantinov” award has been rewarded yearly since 2004 during the days of the Festival for contributions to book-publishing for children in the previous year. The reward consists of a plastic art sculpture, a diploma and money and it is awarded in four groups: a great prize for entire contribution to the writing and awards for a publishing house, an author and an illustrator. First winner of the award was the poet Valery Petrov and the award for best publishing house won the “Fjut” publishing house.

 

            A NATIONAL “KONSTANTIN KONSTANTINOV” AWARD  –

FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE BOOK-PUBLISHING FOR CHILDREN

 

1. The National “Konstantin Konstantinov” award has been established in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture, National Book Centre at the Ministry of Culture, “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library – Sliven, Sliven Municipality and Rotary Club – Sliven.

 2. The National “Konstantin Konstantinov” award has been rewarded yearly since 2004 for contributions to book-publishing for children in the previous year.

 3. The awards are rewarded by competition and are given on a solemn ceremony in Sliven each year in May.

 4. The reward consists of a plastic art sculpture, a diploma and money.

 5. The awards are rewarded in four groups:

5.1. A great prize for entire contribution to the writing;

5.2. A publishing house;

5.3. An author;

5.4. An illustrator.

6. Physical and juridical persons may take part in the competition for the award.

6.1. The tenders for the great prize for entire contribution to the writing of books can be made by the competitors themselves.

6.2. Winners of the Great Prize can not be nominated second time.

6.3. Only first editions can apply for the awards in group 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4.

7. Terms to apply must be published in the press and information services/TV, radios/ at least 15 days before the beginning of the presentation of works and authors.

 8. The competitors fill in an application form and place at organizers’ disposal two copies of their works, accompanied by a motivated tender, and also other materials, presenting their activities. These materials will not be returned and will stay in the book-stock of “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library – Sliven.

 9. Tenders for participation in the competition can be dome by specialists and critics, who monitor the current literary life in an order defined by the National Book Centre.

 10. After expiring the term for applying for the competition, a list of all the competitors is given at press and information services/ TV, radios/ disposal.

 11. A jury is nominated for rewarding the awards. Its members are: a chairman and six members – representatives of the founders of the award / the Ministry of Culture, National Book Centre at the Ministry of Culture, “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library – Sliven, Sliven Municipality and Rotary Club – Sliven / and two specialists in the field of writing for children / famous authors and literature critics/.

1.1. A chairman of the jury is a representative of the founders, who is elected by a rotary principle as the founders come to an agreement between themselves.

11.2. The founders can assign their right to be a chairman to some of the other members of the jury.

11.3. The specialist in the jury are suggested by the National Book Centre after consulting professional and publishing organizations in the book-publishing and writing field and after coming to an agreement with the “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library – Sliven and Sliven Municipality.

11.4. The members of the jury are defined by order of the Minister of Culture and it is announced in the time of rewarding the award.

11.5. The members of the jury signed declarations for non-commitment with the competitors.

11.6. The meetings of the jury are summoned and presided at by the chairman.

11.7. The jury sits in quorum at least 2/3 of its members and takes resolutions at closed meetings, by a secret voting and 50 % plus 1 vote of the present members.

11.8. The jury gives the signed protocol in two copies to be kept in the National Book Centre and “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library – Sliven after its finishes its work.

12. Money for the award are provided by the founders as they come to an agreement between themselves.

12.1. Donations from persons and organizations can also be added to the money fund for the award.

12.2. Organization and financial partnership of the founders is defined by a treaty, which includes:

Ø     Organizational responsibilities;

Ø     The amount of money award;

Ø     Expenses for making the plastic sculptures and diplomas;

Ø     Taxes for participation;

Ø     Other expenses.

13. Deadline for making tenders – 15 April of the current year.
